Who We Are
Our managing members and project leads have experience dating back to the 70’s. Over the years we’ve worked as in-house land managers/landmen for exploration and production companies, major oil and gas law firms, and contractors for large brokerages.
Through the years we have overseen the acquisition and development of millions of acres in the basin worth billions of dollars. This level of experience transfers down to our field teams as well – our contractors have been working as abstractors or landmen for many years. In addition to our industry experience we also have a background in technology (product development and management) which has enabled us to develop technology to address specifics needs in our industry.
With the most recent boom the Appalachian basin has seen an enormous influx of exploration and production by some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world. It was during this time that we realized a need to “modernize” the way abstracting was performed (at least in this part of the country). Many new brokers (most not local to the basin) set up shop and got to work. Unfortunately as is always the case with a large influx of land work, comes rushed work products i.e. inaccurate work. This of course poses a huge problem for E&Ps.
It was because of these concerns that caused us to begin asking the question “how do we maintain or improve performance while ensuring work quality isn’t compromised?” This questioning is what prompted the managing members of Nova to create the tools we’ll use on your projects, tools like our proprietary skill assessment and placement system; and Abstraction – a custom cloud-based solution for abstracting.
Our industry experience paired with our technology background has afforded us the ability to take part in the current transition from the “old way of doing research” into the current ever evolving approach to oil and gas land work.
